November 2009

We’ve had a great fall quarter thus far, here at Studio 22. Our fall grants have wrapped up their weekends of production and have begun their post-production phases. We would like to congratulate Running Fox, Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft, and Digital Decay, and the tremendous amounts of work their crews put in this fall. We are very excited to see the films continue to develop in the coming months.

In addition, our executive board made it through another competitive round of pitches to select our winter projects. Congratulations to the production teams of our Bindley Grant, Moment Capacity, and our $1000 Mini Grant, Yellow Room, on their strong pitches and projects. The films have already held their crew head petitions and will be holding general crew petitions next week. Make sure to come out to work on our winter quarter films! We are very excited to work with these projects as they begin pre-production.

We have some exciting events coming up sponsored by Studio 22 this quarter. In addition to our winter grant crew petitions, we will be hosting an industry event on the Monday of Reading Week, November 30, at 7PM. Dave Sampson, the head of technical operations, from the Chicago post-production company Optimus, will be joining us in an open event to discuss industry work and opportunities in the post-production industry as well as discussing and showing some work done by Optimus. Come out and take a break from your extensive studying.

In addition to physical events, new content is added regularly to our brand new website at www.studio22nu.com. The website is designed to be a central hub for all things Studio 22. You can come see casting and crew information for each of our projects at their own film pages, as well as a Producers page that includes valuable information on producing films at Northwestern.

One of the most exciting portions of our website is a newly improved Scriptwriters Database. With this handy tool, writers can submit a script and directors can browse the variety of scripts posted. As this develops, we hope to connect directors with strong scripts to create even stronger projects. If you have a script you would like to see produced, go to our website and submit a digital copy and get connected with

Thanks for reading, and look forward to another exciting month of Studio 22!

Your Co-Presidents,
Andy Van Beek and
Chris Simonson
