A Note on Recent Board Restructuring:.

STUDIO 22 EXECUTIVE BOARD:
As the 2009-2010 Studio 22 executive board’s tenure ends, Co-Presidents Chris Simonson and Adam Docksey have restructured the board positions for the 2010-2011 school year in order to increase efficiency and evenly distribute responsibilities.
One aspect of restructuring was the combination of the Public Relations and Events Planning positions into a new co-chair position entitled “Public Relations”. The two PR chairs will be in charge of both planning the Studio 22 spring premiere and communicating the ideas of Studio 22 to the public through marketing, press releases, and website updates. Since the PR chair now incorporates the responsibilities of two previous exec board positions, the increased amount of work calls for two individuals who can effectively work together to handle marketing and event planning.
The second aspect of restructuring was combining the Industry and Distribution positions into an “Industry” chair with the primary objectives of aiding the distribution of Studio 22 films throughout the short-film festival circuit and sharing information about the film festival industry. Other student film groups are linking the professional film industry with the Northwestern film community by bringing speakers to campus and enabling students to establish and maintain relationships with members of the industry. Therefore, Studio 22’s primary focus will be to assist grant recipients in developing their projects and branching out into the industry, however the Industry chair will continue to explore opportunities in the professional film industry, as well as support other student groups in continuing this effort to provide networking opportunities here on campus. Studio 22 maintains its emphasis on both learning from those in the film industry and assisting in the distribution of its films, but the overlapping goals of the previous chair positions and the presence of other student film groups allow for one executive board member to sufficiently fill this role.
In addition, the combination of these two exec board positions will eliminate the overlap of similar questions asked by the Industry and Distribution chairs during the second night of pitches, consequently increasing efficiency and clarity of the pitch process and therefore improving the experience for everyone involved.
The other executive board positions have not been changed and will maintain the same responsibilities as before.
